CMC Steel Plant

Capturing the Haunting Beauty of Rancho Cucamonga's CMC Plant

Over 10 months, I explored the decommissioned CMC Steel plant in Rancho Cucamonga, uncovering a hauntingly beautiful world of industrial remnants. The silent expanse of steel and concrete, with coffee cups left on desks and tools abandoned on benches, told poignant stories of the past.

Using my Phase One IQ4 150 Achromatic Digital back, I captured these scenes in stunning 151-megapixel detail, opting for black-and-white photography with sepia toning to emphasize texture and timelessness. As demolition progressed, the site transformed, revealing new layers of character that I chronicled with a focus on form, structure, and light.

This project transcends photography; it’s about storytelling—bridging past and present through images that evoke emotion and thought. As I compile these photographs and found objects into a book, I aim to redefine industrial photography as fine art.

If my vision resonates, let’s collaborate to turn the ordinary into something extraordinary.
